Yellow-Jackets Next to Hive. What to do?
I recently discovered a nest of yellow-jackets in a small hole in the ground about six inches from the base of one of my hives.
They don't seem to be bothering the bees at the moment but I worry about robbing as we enter fall.
Is there a safe way to remove them? Because of the proximity to my hive I am hesitant to use chemicals.
I thought about plugging the hole or filling it with water but I am not confident that would completely remove them.
Or perhaps it is fine and they wont bother the healthy hive?
Thank you for any insight you can give.
