wild hive question

We are grateful you are here

wild hive question

When I moved into my house a few years ago, I noticed bee traffic in and out of an oak tree. We had a beekeeper come out and stated they were Italian bees. I garden so I was happy to have them around. The hive grew and there were so many. Last summer, they swarmed and left.

To my surprise, about a month ago I noticed bees again! We always noticed bees crawling and dying on our patio before, but now even though the hive is so much smaller than before, it's a good amount of down bees. I know bees are kicked from the hive if thier sick, or sometimes, they just get old and can't make it back. Is there any signs to check for to see if this is normal or if there's something wrong with the hive?

I don't use pesticide in my yard. I don't even mow the back yard often so there is wildflowers etc.

Thanks in advance!
