Websites are just ads and lack useful info: Can a human help me make beeswax candles from my frames of empty comb?
I caught a swarm in the spring but they ditched the hive after a short while. They were kind enough to leave behind lots of nice comb which is completely empty! I want to make some small, hand-dipped candles out of the wax.
It seems simple enough so a quick google search should do the trick, but that has been very disappointing. All the results are Martha Stewart-esque websites that are 75% advertisements, a cheeky story about cold winter nights and a glass of wine, and very little actual information. They also all assume you’re using pellets or pre-screened wax.
This sub has plenty of knowledgeable folks and I would much prefer to hear from you what methods you recommend and what to look out for, etc.
So if anyone has tried melting down and filtering their own comb to then produce hand-dipped candles, I would love to learn from you!
