varroa thread and treatment

We are grateful you are here

varroa thread and treatment

Season is over in half of the world (almost). So this treat us to tell the world what you do.

I start:

  1. I never tested for mites. My bees do have them.

  2. I treat by evaporating oxalic acid. Google: evaporate oxalic acid

A. Once after honey season B. After feeding them for winter 3 times, with 5 days in between. C. Around Xmas before the new year 3 times with 3 days in between.

  1. When I make a artificial swarm or catch one I immediately spraythem with a 3% oxalic solution.

I have about 3-5% loss a year to varroa.
