Trying to identify a bug…

Tricky because they are too small to photograph. Earlier on inspection I saw what I initially thought to be a cluster of moth eggs by the brick I use as a weight on the lid. No more than a group of dots. But as I was out looking again later they are in fact very tiny bugs. Some type of mite I’d guess, they are about the size of red mites. Smaller than the head of a pin, definitely not varroa or ticks. They are black in color, and outside of a slightly oval shape and six very tiny legs oriented downward (like a ladybug) not much other I could see without magnification. They were just crawling all over the exterior of the lid, so small they move slowly, didn’t seem to be an issue. Any thoughts?
