Suburban beekeepers, have you had any problems from other colonies in your area?

Suburban beekeepers, have you had any problems from other colonies in your area?

There's a beekeeper about 0.25-0.5 miles away with 5 colonies. A few miles away, there are at least a couple houses advertising honey for sale, so I assume that's an extra few colonies in the area. I'm mainly concerned about competition over foraging and that my bees might not have enough.

There do seem to be a lot of flowers around in spring but not as much in summer and fall. Most of the pollinators I notice in my garden are native bees, wasps, and butterflies, not that honeybees are a rare sight either though.

I'm planning on having two colonies. Based on your experience, will I still do ok in terms of the bees having enough to survive and thrive or are there simply too many colonies in the area?
