Stressed Hive and Bearding at Night Time? Or dead queen?
Hey!New to beekeeping and I am fairly bad at it, lol. I am kind-of rough. I was opening my hives to expand them with a 2nd box on top, and one of the boxes was pretty glued shut with wax. When I took the lid off, 2-3 slides of honey combs came out with it, but then detached and slammed back down into the hive. I saw a bunch fall to the bottom of the hive, and figured it couldn't be good. The slides of honeycombs which fell were in the middle of the hive, which I assume the queen is normally. Now they are bearding at the entrance, and are still doing it despite it being night time. My other 2 hives next to it have also been expanded, but there is no bearding at their entrances. What could be causing this? Did I kill the queen? Or just really stress them? I will be checking them in 2 weeks to see if there is larva in the new slides, but what could be causing them to gather at the entrance?
