Standard frames sizes and hive types for commercial beekeepers in the U.S
As a little background, I am involved in a project that is creating a product which uses heat to eradicate varroa, and we have a few questions regarding frame and brood box configurations. The project is based in Europe and one of the challenges is that their is little standardization. People really like to configure their hives their own way.
Is it the same for commercial beekeeping operations in the U.S, or are frame sizes more standardized for the industry (ie: Langstroth is heavily used, but is 9 1/8 more common than 6 1/4? Or are their other dimensions?). Same question for specific configurations. For example, Hoffman brood frames, brood boxes with the protruding ledge, etc. Thanks.
