Reusing wax month infested frames from last year, w/ picture of a frame
Last year one of my two hives absconded before winter. I noticed signs of robbing, looked inside the hive, took all the frames and hive boxes inside, and cleaned everything up. A lot of the frames had a lot of capped honey, but they also had wax moth. I put the frames in the freezer. The honey is unfit for human consumption, right?
This year, I did a split about a month ago. Assuming the hives need space, can I take these frames with capped honey and wax moth and add them on top? (After letting the frames come up to room temp; I've stored them in the freezer for months, so any wax moth, hive beetle, whatever is dead.) Or should I put the frames outside and let the bees clean out the frames outside of the hive stack?
Pictures. This frame is probably the best in terms of lots of capped honey and few wax moth/ other contaminants.
