Refeeding honey: should I extract first or just scar the frames and place them on top?
I have 2-3 supers worth of medium frames that are partially filled and capped with honey. I want to give this honey back to the bees. We are going to have temps in the low 70s for the next 4-5 days. Normal temps are in the 40s and lower this time of year. Should I extract the frames, put the honey in a reservoir feeder, and place the wet frames up top for a few days so they can clean them? Or should I just scar up the caps and put the supers on top frames and all and let the bees move the honey into the brood boxes? I think the bees could probably clean the frames up in a few days with warms temps right? The frames in question probably have 20-30% capped honey. The rest was nectar I shook out.
