Question: How do check up on my hives during winter?

This is my first year with my hives. Located in centerish Massachusetts, in climate zone 6. I didn’t remove any capped honey this year since everything I read and was told. One hive had a filled brood box and mostly filled super (~90%), while the other had a second super about 3/4 filled. I prepped the hives with insulation around the hive and some burlap in the top cover. Before the first freeze hit I inspected the hive and didn’t see any glaring problems, both queens were active and the other ladies were busy. Besides ensuring they have air flow and a clearing escape path from the entrance do I need to do anything else? TIA
