Off taste in honey
I’m a relatively new beekeeper. I’ve been told by many people that my honey tastes amazing. I have heard from these folks that other natural honey from my area doesn’t taste as good. I do have an orchard and a large spring clover patch for my bees. But, I’m wondering if mite treatments could be to blame. Could formic/thymol/oxalic residues contaminate frames even if they aren’t present during treatment? I was only using amitraz. But, I’m starting to vary treatments to avoid resistance. Could these treatments contaminate other’s honey by using super boxes? Other thoughts on this?
