Might need help. Bees in my tree.

First year beekeeper. Yesterday we noticed maybe a dozen bees flying in and out of a tree near our house. Got the side eye from my wife. Not even sure they're mine. I haven't noticed any swarm behavior from my hive, seemed like normal traffic at the hive this morning. Didn't have a chance to check the hive yet today, and only saw a couple bees at the tree this morning. The hive was fed initially and always had access to water, there is clover and honeysuckle all over our property. How worried should I be? What could have gone awry, and what are my steps here?
