Long term observation nuc?
Hey all, my local hardware store has a surprisingly good beekeeping section. Yesterday I was picking up some frames and noticed that they had a Mann-Lake observation hive for 100. I occasionally do some local conservation outreaches in the community and thought it would be a really cool way to introduce people to pollinators. Anyways, when I got home, my stepson thought it was the neatest thing ever. He's been on the fence about beekeeping for a while, but I think that having access to an observation hive would be a really engaging way for him to get involved. He wanted to make it his hive right away. I was wondering, I'm in zone 8 and I don't think that keeping bees in nucs long term would be that difficult other swarm control. Has anyone ever used one of these observation nucs long-term or think that it's feasible?
I know that there are a lot of other really nice larger observation hives out there, but right now my wife is not going to let me get one of those for the house. The Mann-Lake is all I'm getting, haha.
