TLDR: Bees are tough, don’t worry so much that you don’t actually move forward with keeping bees.

To those who are trying to get everything perfect, last week we found a well established colony in a bucket. There were 7 layers of comb that practically ran the entire length of the bucket on its side. There was nothing limiting their entrance, it was just the open bucket. I have an advantage (I live in Puerto Rico) but when I first started getting into bees (State side) I wanted everything to be perfect and I treated the bees as an incredibly fragile organism. I just chuckled because here is a hive that was in the shade and they were being successful in a bucket.
