I’ve had two queens lose their marks immediately after introducing them to the hive

I purchased a new package of bees in the spring with a marked queen. I noticed when I found her the first time, the mark on her back had been almost completely removed, and the second time I saw her, there was nothing. She ended up being a poor layer, so I had to replace her. I went through the hive and removed her before replacing her with another queen. I went back into the hive a few days later to check the queen cage, and it was empty, so I went searching for her, and ended up finding her without the big yellow dot on her back. The bees weren’t balling up on her or acting aggressive, and this is the second time this has happened with this hive in a few months. Is this normal?
