Inverted 5 gallon bucket as a top feeder

Hey bee friends!

This might be too simple of a question, and my google skills are lacking today, as I can't quite find what I want.

I'm currently feeding my new hives to help them finish building out their comb. I currently use mason jars, and refill them every couple of days.

However, I'm wondering if I can just use a 5 gallon bucket with a lid, poke a couple holes in it, and then invert it over the top cover. Basically, same process as my mason jars, just…bigger, so I don't have to fill it as often. I'd probably build a little frame for it to sit on to help seal it off from the outside world, and to make sure the weight is borne by the the box, and not just the top cover.

Dumb idea for reasons I'm not thinking about?

Thank you!
