I am thinking of starting beekeeping.

I bought a hive, and am taking the apiary course and going through getting proper permits for my area, is there anything I should know? Do I buy the queen and bees separately? I’m trying to get Italian bees? I live in northeast US, what should I do with them during the winter? Any advice would be amazing and appreciated 🙂
