How do bees mix genetics?
It is my understanding bees reproduce by swarming but also workers mate with the queen within the hive to supply a steady stream of workers. Essentially these are the queens own children though correct? Would they collectively be genetically identical?
I see many different strains of honey bees like "Italian" and read of people's tame bees breeding with wild bees to become mutts. How is that possible when reproduction is through swarming and not intercourse where different genetics would be introduced?
