How do bees know that a comrade is dead and to remove their carcass?

I’m sitting here watching the Incredible Spring activity in my New York hive and there’s one dead soul near the entrance.

Obviously all the other workers are stepping over this bee like it’s not even there.

My question is how will it eventually be flagged for removal? Does it stop releasing pheromones?
Dues it start releasing pheromones at death? How do they know to move it….

Spent some time taking around online and couldn’t find any answers
