hive getting aggressive?

We are grateful you are here

hive getting aggressive?

Got a hive from a friend in May and they've been really calm up until last weeks inspection. Had my mentor come do an oxalic treatment today and just walking up to my yard they start getting a little feisty. Yesterday's inspection I didn't see the queen but saw eggs and no queen cells. My mentor didn't like how aggressive they were and mentioned making sure to find the queen next inspection and possibly requeening. He also noticed I have a bunch of white sumac and the bees love that. But I wouldn't think a specific flower would give them roid rage. Any ideas?
