First year question

This is my first year beekeeping. I live in the northeast and it’s been hot. All season I have been regularly feeding with sugar water/brood patties. I read something recently and got nervous about feeding so much because of the possibility of robber bees.

Does anyone adjust feeding during the season to prevent robbers? I know this time of the season where I live has a low nectar flow and I want to make sure the young hive can bulk up for fall/winter. I need some input please 🙂
