Does more beekeepers in an area = less honey per beekeeper?

We are grateful you are here

Does more beekeepers in an area = less honey per beekeeper?

Since there's a finite source of nectar, more hives in an area means that each hive gets less nectar and produces less honey. If hives are owned by separate beekeepers, then each beekeeper gets less honey, right? Have any of you with beekeeper neighbors noticed a drop in honey production (or low yields to begin with) because of this?

I know someone who has 5 hives that lives about 0.25-0.5 miles away (and there could be other beekeepers in the area, this is just the one I know about). Does this mean if I got two colonies that they would barely produce any honey or even struggle to produce enough honey to survive winter?

If so, could I plant enough flowers or just buy nectar to give the bees to compensate for this?
