Do you guys mess with the inspection boards for thermal regulation?
A guy I know keeps obsessing with temperature control (in a very temperate country) and has already caused foul brood during a stormy period by removing the inspection board from the bottom board. Despite that lesson he's still going crazy and insists to check the temperature and mess with his hives every day.
The board I'm talking about is an insert at the base of the hive where all the junk falls through a wire grate to inspect for varroa in case you are unfamiliar with that type of hive. Removing it basically leaves the hive completely open at the bottom.
