Copper Beehive Roofs -> Overheating?
We bought 6 used copper beehive roofs that have about 2" of foam insulation in the top and gables. We started testing them last year… and had swarming issues. Bur everyone had swarming issues last year.
Does anyone else use copper roofs? What would you recommend? They have a slight patina on them which only makes them darker (and hotter). They are in a sunny and south facing location, and we don't want to disturb the bees by moving the hives. We're in 5b Colorado, so… lots of sunshine.
Should we ditch these hot roofs this summer?
