Combining 2 weak hives into a double-queened hive?
I've heard that you should combine weak hives with strong hives for best results. This year I have several hives that only occupy one brood box, and I do not think they will be able to make enough honey or brood to ensure winter survival.
Here's my plan: take each week hive and add a newspaper and empty super on top of the newspaper. Then add a queen excluder and another weak hive. So I'll be turning 2 weak hives into a double-queen hive. Would this work?
