Breaking up "the cluster" on cold day inspections?
I have two small lang hives (6/8 frames filled and active). The temps in my Oregon-Washington area are dropping into the continual 50-60F degrees.
I will inspect and pull a few frames on the periphery that are looking fine with honey and brood. But I'm hesitant to pull out every frame and release all the heat they've established in the main cluster, because temps can drop pretty fast here when a quick rain storm comes in.
Does anyone else do this? Am I overly concerned? Thanks for your thoughts.
