Good day, everyone!
I've been keeping bees for some time and have had the traditional Italians. However, this year, I picked up a few Saskatraz colonies. I have noticed a more intense sting from them vs. the Italians and was wondering what the science behind this was as I haven't been able to find anything breed specific as of yet?
Italian bees and wasps hurt at the site for a few hours max to me. But these ladies induce a lovely joint-aching and swelling for a few days, even if I get the stinger out quickly.
Even with the unpleasant occasional stings, I've been impressed with their production so far. Overall, definitely a good breed to have.
