Are bees like dairy cows?
My wife grew up on a dairy, where it's important to milk the cows; if you don't they get sick. Is it similarly important to take the honey out of a super?
I set up a colony because I think bees are interesting, and enjoy having them around, and it's fun caring for them. My problem is that my colony is doing great – making more honey than I can possibly use! I've extracted enough from just two frames to last me for (literally) years.
Google is giving me conflicting information about whether it's okay to leave honey in the super. For me it's 100% about the bees, not the honey harvest, so I'm delighted to leave the honey in if it's good for them but I will definitely take it out if it will cause problems.
Does anyone have advice?
