Are bee sting allergies genetic?
I called my local allergist to see if I could get tested and he said that bee sting allergies don't usually appear unless you get stung so he said not to come in unless I get stung and have a reaction.
But my brother was allergic to bees as a kid. He got one sting and had a rash that spread up his arm beyond the sting site. He was given shots for a couple years to get rid of the allergy. No one else in the family has a known bee allergy but most of us haven't been stung by bees.
Are bee sting allergies heritable? Do you or does anyone you know have multiple people in the family with the allergy?
