Always Angry Anthophila. Advice?

Ok third year beekeeper here and I have my first ever angry hive. They are doing well. Appropriate honey stores. Enough room to grow. I requeened them about 10 weeks ago, at that point they were honey bound. I checkerboard in some frames of drawn comb and they accepted the queen. Since then, the second I remove the top they come out guarding. Remove the inner cover and you can hear the whole hive vibrating with alarm. Not the comforting buzz we all know. Any tips? Commiserations? Will they return to my happy hive in the spring? No issues with mites/beetles/moths etc
