A walk away split gone awry?
Evening, chaps, I performed a walk away split on my one hive (obtained one hive this year from a fellow, didn’t sell me the second as he felt it wasn’t strong enough and suggested the walk away split), and I’ve had the first inspection of the two hives, and I couldn’t see a queen in either hive. There was capped brood, and some larvae in late stages, but no eggs. One of the two hives has two beginnings of queen cups. Should I leave the queen cups? Should I try and move one cup to the other hive? Or should I try and source new queens?
