We are grateful you are here

A few months ago, we rescued a hive and it’s practically died out, but it had a queen.

However, it didn’t start with a queen because we couldn’t find it during our rescue (we had to leave a large chunk of the hive because we wouldn’t access it). The new queen isn’t laying. We also have one fully functional hive that is thriving. We don’t search for the queen very often because we don’t want to waste any time out there. We were trying to come up with ideas as to why there’s a queen with only 10-15 bees, and it brought up a question. Would the queen of the thriving hive ever leave to go literally 5 feet away to a smaller hive and then go back to her original? If not, why wouldn’t the new queen be laying?
